The sexiest man for 2010 may be Ryan Reynolds but I think the 5,000-plus people at the Hard Rock Live would say they got it wrong. Chayanne could easily be the sexiest man alive.
Opening the show with a burst of fireworks, Chayanne appeared amid a cloud of fog under twinkling lights of “No Hay Impossible” high atop the staircase. On stage, his 10-piece band and accompanying dancers escorted Chayanne as he sang “Provocame” down the stairs and Chayanne’s dance moves, contagious smile, and hip thrusts had the crowd screaming his name.
He continued to spellbound the audience with “Lola” and brought it down a bit with “Si No Estas”, the video screen in the background: a tree in spring budding its leaves, coming to life. But the melancholy mood didn’t last long. Breaking into a remix of “Caprichosa”, I was on my feet joining the others in my row, the call of the Latin beat making my body move.

Chayanne’s stage with the high staircase and separate platforms enabled everyone at the Hard Rock Live to see him and his dancers sweep across the stage. For “Y Tu Tevas”, Chayanne changed his shirt and the girls in the audience sang their hearts out as images of another girl flashed on the screen behind him. Chayanne’s vocals are like a caress and he looks into the crowd and makes you feel like he is only singing to you.
As he progressed into “Cuidarte El Alma” a full moon rose in a star filled skied behind him. For this song even the men in the audience were signing. It filled the air like a serenade of musical notes around me. Now I don’t even speak Spanish but the sound of all the voices with Chayanne was enchanting.
So the evening went. All the nonsense and craziness of getting to the show melted away. The lady dancers who danced provocatively towards Chayanne on the stage only added to the desire the women in the crowd were feeling. As for Chayanne, his smile says it all. Even he could not contain himself during one song, losing his place, breaking his composure and laughing.
For 42 years old, Chayanne is looking hot. Steaming even. His voice is solid and sexy and his dance moves on the stage all create a night to remember.
